Tallahassee Daddy Daughter Dance Background

This event originated three years ago as a fund raiser to fund community projects developed and/or supported by the Northside Rotary Club. The funds raised go primarily to two of our main projects…The Rotary Youth Camp (for disabled children) and the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.  The Dance, unlike some private church and organization dances, is open to the entire community as well as surrounding communities.

Our dance is patterned after the Father Daughter Valentines Dance held in Valdosta, Georgia. The Valdosta dance began 11 years ago with about 150 people in a Church hall and has grown to a dance with attendance of over 6,000 people! They are so huge that they now hold the dance in their Civic Center and have broken it down into 4 dances over two days!

We are growing each year and our goal is to be big enough for the Civic Center within 5 years.  We want everyone that lives in the Panhandle to be as excited about and aware of this dance as the citizens are of ‘Market Days’, ‘The Festival of Lights’, or ‘Springtime Tallahassee Parade & Jubilee in the Park’!  A lofty goal to be sure, but one that is certainly attainable.

The Dance is open to the entire community as well as surrounding communities.
